Taking Play Seriously: Examining How Play Works and How Best to Support It – Lynnette Brock & John Siraj-Blatchford – University of Plymouth
John is an honorary Professor at the University of Plymouth and was previously employed by the University of Cambridge Faculty of Education where he led a series of successful research projects, and served as Associate Director of the ESRC Teaching and Learning Research Programme. He was recently commissioned by UNESCO to carry out an early childhood review of the UN Decade for Education for Sustainable development. Much of his work has been concerned with developing better understandings of early childhood pedagogy and he has published several books and numerous journal articles focused on early childhood education, sustainable development, science, technology and social justice. He contributed analysis to UK Cabinet Office Equalities Review Report for the Effective Provision of Pre-school Education (EPPE) project; and to the Centre for Excellence and Outcomes in Children (C4EO) reviews of ‘Family based support for early learning’ and ‘Integrated Children’s Services’.
